Duurzame broedplaats De Ceuvel is er maar tijdelijk en bevindt zich op de plek waar vroeger een scheepswerf was. Die werf heeft de grond destijds vervuild achtergelaten. Ondanks dat, is het gelukt om er een groen paradijs van te maken. Waar planten helpen om de grond te zuiveren, waar groente verbouwd wordt in verticale tuinen, waar water wordt gebufferd en vogels, kleine zoogdieren en insecten hun plek hebben gevonden. De Ceuvel is bij openingstijden van het café altijd open toegankelijk, maar vandaag kan je middels twee rondleidingen veel meer te weten komen over het groen op deze plek.

Een van de doelen van De Ceuvel is om de vervuilde grond op het terrein schoner terug te geven als we hier weer weg moeten. Om dat voor elkaar te krijgen, werken met een techniek om met planten vervuiling in de grond af te breken of te verwijderen: fytoremediatie. Niet alleen maken de planten stap voor stap de bodem schoner, het levert ook in de tussentijd een rijke ecologie op het terrein op.

Ontdek de verschillende waarden van Groen op De Ceuvel (in de landschapsarchitectuur, de grondopschoning, voedselverbouwing, biodiversiteit) en hoe dat de inspiratie is voor zowel de toekomst van dit terrein als voor de ecologische plannen in de omgeving zoals Schoon Schip, het Johan van Hasselt kanaal en de kades. De toer kan met rolstoel worden gevolgd. Let op: niet het gehele terrein is rolstoelvriendelijk.

Openingstijden Café: Di-Zo van 12:00-23:00 (Het terrein van De Ceuvel is semi-publiek toegankelijk tijdens de openingsuren van het Café).

Bereikbaarheid:
De Ceuvel heeft geen parkeergelegenheid, maar auto’s kunnen eventueel een plek vinden op de Papaverweg (€1,40/uur, tot 19 uur).
Het is echter aan te raden per fiets te komen: De Ceuvel is slechts 8 minuten fietsen vanaf het Buiksloterweg-veer (vertrekt direct achter CS, elke 6 minuten).
Komst per OV: Noord-Zuidlijn (Metro 52), gaat elke 6 minuten. Uitstappen halte Noorderpark. Vanaf daar is het 9 minuten lopen.
Bus: vanaf CS IJzijde Connexxion bus 391 en 394. Uitstaphalte is Mosveld, van daar is het ongeveer nog 3 minuten lopen.

Sustainable breeding ground De Ceuvel is only there temporarily and is located on the spot where there used to be a shipyard. That shipyard left the soil polluted. Despite that, we managed to turn it into a green paradise. Where plants help to purify the soil, vegetables are grown in vertical gardens, water is buffered and birds, small mammals and insects have found their place. De Ceuvel is always open during café opening hours, but today you can learn much more about the greenery at this spot through two tours.
12:00 Guided tour by Anke Wijnja (Manager of De Ceuvel Park)
One of the goals of De Ceuvel is to return the contaminated soil on the site cleaner when we have to leave. To achieve this, we are working with a technique that uses plants to break down or remove pollution in the soil: phytoremediation. Not only do the plants make the soil cleaner step by step, it also provides a rich ecology on the site in the meantime.

Accessibility
The Ceuvel has no parking facilities, but cars can possibly find a spot on the Poppy Road (€1.40/hour, until 7pm).
However, it is recommended to come by bike: The Ceuvel is only an 8-minute bike ride from the Buiksloterweg ferry (leaves directly behind CS, every 6 minutes).
Arrival by public transport: Noord-Zuidlijn (Metro 52), departs every 6 minutes. Get off at the Noorderpark stop. From there it is a 9 minute walk.
Bus: from CS IJzijde Connexxion bus 391 and 394. Exit is Mosveld, from there it is about 3 minutes walk.
