In close collaboration with ArtEZ, we have developed a new Community Research Programme, derived from our Designing Cities for All series. During this programme you will be intellectually challenged to conduct, under supervision, embedded research in an innovative, creative and critical community in the outskirts of the city of Amsterdam Nieuw-West.
In short: the programme
In the studio location in Amsterdam Nieuw-West, the programme will offer a variety of inspiring (outdoor and indoor) workshops, online lectures with international experts, urban tours, artist dialogues and local community, and resident meetings. The research and learning activities of this 12-week part-time programme include: a temporary studio space in Amsterdam-West, designing your own research-exhibition and write your own research essays with a possible publication opportunity. Upon completion, you’ll receive a Certification of Participation (Advanced Studies, ArtEZ).
Designing Cities for All: RE-generation
Designing Cities for All is the two-years extensive programme of Pakhuis de Zwijger, with support from the Creative Industries Fund, that focusses on the role of designers in shaping and creating cities for, by and with everyone. For 2023, the programme is rebooted with a new sub-theme: Designing Cities for All: RE-generation that focusses on the role of design in (re)shaping and (re)creating regenerative cities by, for and with everyone and every living thing. The main question for the 2023/2024 DCFA RE-generation programme is: ‘How might we design for not just everyone, but for all living things?’
Why you?
This programme educates (future) art and design practitioners in the broadest sense of the word. It offers an open space for exploration, a sincere effort to understand what is deemed ’too complex’. Architects, graphic and visual designers, spatial designers, game designers, product designers, art and tech students, but also policymakers, artists, planners and urban planners, curators, citizens’ initiatives, civil society organizations, ‘city makers’ and so on are invited to develop innovative, fresh, intersectional and interdisciplinary insights. It also provides tools to improve the city and society, not just for everyone, but for everything.
