Pakhuis de Zwijger is the platform for creation and social innovation. We started by programming about the city, our country and the world of the future. Over the past 15 years we have grown into a unique national and global platform, focusing on bringing people together and how projects impact and contribute to the development of a more sustainable, fair and future-proof society.
Pakhuis de Zwijger is an accessible, independent and safe public meeting place for everyone. It’s a modern ’talking house’ that has opted for dialogue as a form of communication, holding a strong online presence. A place where we voice ambitions and present different opinions and insights in order to find creative solutions for the urgent and complex social issues of our time. Where we bring artists and designers together to collaborate with scientists, policymakers, experts and citizens in all their diversity. Where we come together to visualize the city and metropolis of tomorrow, hold up scientific research to everyday practice and present technological and social innovation as alternatives to current policy and reality. Above all, it’s a place where we question everything and tackle social issues as complex design assignments.

AVANTI ALMERE
Avanti is the diversity platform in Almere where we aim to contribute to an inclusive society. We discuss social topics in many different ways based on monthly programs and current events. We find and share stories about sharing space, our environment and the people and animals around us. We tell these stories in many different ways because we believe stories are a powerful source of inspiration and way of offering advice; a way to provoke new ways of thinking. Everyone has a story. That is why we collect them from all the residents of Almere.
Avanti wants to connect citizens and organizations from Almere and help them to create a more inclusive society by highlighting and utilizing their differences. By bringing all these different people together we’re providing everyone with new and diverse insights and at the same time we gain more knowledge about all parties involved.
Avanti is very aware of the individual differences between people and is careful to approach all its residents with respect. When individual differences are perceived as unique instead of strange, it makes it possible for everyone to participate in society. We call this an inclusive society, one in which everyone is connected to each other. Regardless of our heritage, sexual orientation, gender or political preference, we all find ourselves in similar situations and experience emotions such as love, passion, sadness or loneliness. We have these human emotions in common and that is what connects us all.
